Social assistance (NÖ SAG)
Social assistance supports people in financial hardship. It covers basic living expenses and housing costs when a person’s own resources (income, assets) or benefits from third parties are insufficient. The legal basis for this is the Lower Austrian Social Assistance Implementation Act (NÖ SAG).
Income & assets
No income or insufficient income to live on and no realisable assets.
Residence
Principal residence and actual, permanent residence in Lower Austria.
Residence status
Authorisation for permanent residence in Austria.
Earning capacity
Willingness to work (provided there are no incapacity to work or exceptional reasons).
Participation
Complete submission of the required documents
Services at a glance
Social assistance is provided as a cash or in-kind benefit in the form of standard rates:
Flat-rate benefits
Support for living expenses and housing.
Capping
Cash benefits to persons of full age are limited to 175% per household.
Additional services
Supplements for single parents and people with disabilities.
Health insurance
Payment of contributions to the statutory health insurance scheme
Gainful employment
Granting an allowance when taking up gainful employment.
Minimum amount
An entitlement exists from a calculated amount of 5 euros per person.
Application and responsibility
Applications must be submitted to the relevant district administration office or to the Social Services Department of the market town of Guntramsdorf. The decision on the application rests with the district administration office.

Required documents
Please provide the following documents (unless they are already on file in public registers):
Identity & Stand
Official photo ID, birth certificate, proof of citizenship (also from parents), marriage/partnership certificate, divorce decree with final judgement if applicable
.Stay
Residence permit or registration certificate, declaration of integration if applicable, values and orientation course and B1 integration test
.Finances
Proof of assets (bank statements for the last three months, savings books, building society savings contracts, securities, etc.)
Income
Wage confirmations, AMS benefits, pension notifications, proof of alimony, sickness benefit or childcare allowance (last three months in each case)
Living
Tenancy agreement, current rent and operating cost estimate, electricity and gas bills, proof of housing subsidies. For owner-occupied homes: extract from the land register and proof of operating costs.
Miscellaneous
Extract from the criminal record, confirmation of the reservation for job search (AMS support agreement), powers of attorney.
