Solar power plants
The market town of Guntramsdorf is firmly committed to sustainable energy use and currently operates nine solar power plants. By establishing municipal energy communities, surplus electricity is efficiently distributed across different locations. This reduces running costs and reduces the burden on the environment.
Key data and performance
The installed systems make a significant contribution to local energy self-sufficiency:
Total capacity: approx. 400 kWp
Output: Equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of around 100 households (approx. 400 people).
Objective: Continuous expansion of photovoltaic capacity subject to budgetary availability.
Course of the project
- 2011: Planning of the solar power systems for the recycling centre, printing works, fire station, Kindergarten 4 and secondary school. Total investment approx. €250,000
- 2012: Funding commitments secured for the systems. Feed-in tariff: Green electricity feed-in tariff for 13 years
- 2013: Commissioning of the 5 PV systems; system output approx. 5 x 20 kWp
- 2022: Planning of the PV system on the roof of the town hall; total investment approx. €35,000; funding from the Province of Lower Austria and KPC
- 2023: Commissioning of the PV system on the roof of the town hall with a capacity of 45 kWp
- 2023: Construction and commissioning of the PV system on the roof of the sewage treatment plant for on-site self-consumption with a capacity of approx. 28 kWp
- 2023: Design of Renewable Energy Community 1 and Renewable Energy Community 2 by the market town of Guntramsdorf and MGBL GmbH
- 2024: Establishment of the association and launch of Renewable Energy Community 1 and Renewable Energy Community 2 in cooperation with Wien Energie. This means that electricity can now be consumed at various locations in a resource-efficient manner.
- 2023: Planning of the PV system on the roof of the grammar school as a full-feed-in system for the municipality’s own energy community, total investment approx. €250,000, funding from the Province of Lower Austria and KPC
- 2024: Financing of the grammar school PV system via a community investment scheme with support from NEU
- 2024: Commissioning of the grammar school’s PV system with a capacity of 215 kWp
- 2024: Construction of a surplus feed-in system with battery storage on the roof of the nursery school in Neu-Guntramsdorf as part of the nursery school extension.
- 2025: Commissioning of the Kindergarten 2 (Neu-Guntramsdorf) PV system with a capacity of approx. 25 kWp and a 25 kW battery storage system
- 2026: The market town and MGBL GmbH join the EEG-Guntramsdorf energy community
