Whether as a sociable hobby or a precision sport at professional level – curling is far more than just pushing stones across a frozen surface. It involves tactics, team spirit and a good dose of finesse.

On this evening, we’ll take a look behind the scenes of the sport. We’ll dispel some myths and show why curling is making a real comeback in the 21st century.

• Equipment guide: What’s the difference between summer and winter running soles? We’ll show you the gear, from wooden sticks to high-tech carbon fibre.

• Rules made easy: What happens in the ‘house’? Who gets the point when the jack moves? We’ll explain the basics of target and team competitions.

• Tactics talk: Find out why the last shot is often the most important and how to skilfully ‘outmanoeuvre’ your opponent.

• Trial session & membership: Information on our training times and how you can become part of our club community.
