Outdoor centre

Space for energy development

With the outdoor centre in Neu-Guntramsdorf, the market town is setting an example in promoting youth, physical activity and community involvement. Around 660,000 euros were invested in the modern facility, which was planned and built in collaboration with young people. The official opening took place on 21 October 2023.

The outdoor centre at a glance:

  • Total area: approximately 9,000 m²

  • Funcourt: multi-purpose court for basketball and football (430 m²)

  • Skatepark: 1,200 m² with ramps, a bowl, rails and Austria’s first soft-landing facility

  • Facilities: covered area with storage containers, toilets, water and electricity

  • Support: MOJA – Mobile Youth Work is regularly on site and provides support for activities and projects.

  • Access: via Franz Novy-Gasse

Youth participation as a success factor

Young people from Guntramsdorf were actively involved from the initial idea right through to the final implementation. Workshops held in schools and youth centres gave them the opportunity to contribute their own ideas – over 100 suggestions were incorporated into the planning. The infrastructure containers were designed in collaboration with professionals as part of a graffiti workshop.

The participation process was divided into four phases
