Discover over 5,000 years of local history
From everyday life in times gone by to extraordinary finds such as a trepanated skull and a Lombard burial ground. Historic living quarters, a general store, traditional craft and industrial workshops, and the marionettes of the renowned puppeteer Fritz Kunstmann bring history to life.
The museum offers themed special tours, children’s tours, local walks and film screenings (by prior arrangement).
Founded from an archaeological collection dating back to 1927, the local history museum has existed in its current form since 1974 and underwent extensive renovation and redesign between 1999 and 2003.

Branch office: Former shoe last factory Ehn
The Popper, Ehn & Bruder shoe last factory moved its production from Vienna to Guntramsdorf in 1908. From 1924 onwards, the Ehn family continued shoe last production here across three generations – until 2010. In addition to the factory, the company also ran a timber business, a shoe shop and a taxi company at various times.
The exhibition space is now run as a branch of the Guntramsdorf Local History Museum and can be visited by appointment through the museum.
