Civil Defence – Test
Alarm A civil defence test alarm will take place across Austria on Saturday 3 October between 12 noon and 1 pm.
In the event of a disaster, the public can be warned and alerted via more than 8,000 sirens and the AT-ALERT system. To familiarise you with these signals and, at the same time, to test the function and range of the sirens, the Federal Warning Centre at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, in collaboration with the provincial government offices, carries out an Austria-wide civil defence test alarm once a year.

ZIVA – The Civil Defence App
The new civil defence app ‘ZIVA’ complements the public warning and alert systems.

The app combines hazard information, personalised preparedness advice and real-time alerts on a central platform.

Personalised information for your own place of residence
ZIVA provides information on hazards that may be relevant to your own place of residence. In addition, up to four further locations – such as your workplace, the homes of relatives or a holiday destination – can be added. Based on this information, users receive tailored information and precautionary advice.

At the same time, the app enables users to receive warnings and alerts in real time.
The civil defence app “ZIVA” is now available free of charge from the major app stores!
