Don’t share your holiday photos or travel plans on social media. Wait until you’ve returned – that way, burglars won’t know your home is empty.
Tip 2: Make your home look lived-in
Ask neighbours, family or friends to regularly empty your letterbox, open and close the shutters or switch on the lights. Timers can also help.
Tip 3: Secure windows and doors
Close and lock all windows, balcony and patio doors, as well as basement windows and side entrances. Even windows left ajar are an invitation to burglars.
Tip 4: Keep valuables safe
Jewellery, cash, important documents or high-value electronic devices do not belong in your home. Use a certified safe or a bank safe-deposit box.
