Cycling infrastructure in Guntramsdorf: expansion and networking

The ongoing expansion of the cycle path network in Guntramsdorf has been actively pursued in recent years. Following the completion of the link between Guntramsdorf and Wiener Neudorf in 2024, further key phases were implemented by the end of 2025. The focus of these measures is on creating safe footpaths and cycle paths along the B17, as well as connecting key residential areas.

Realised stages and sections

Connection Guntramsdorf - Wiener Neudorf

more information

This section was realised as a joint project between the market towns of Wiener Neudorf and Guntramsdorf with support from the state of Lower Austria. The new footpath and cycle path runs between the Kahrteich community pond car park (Wiener Neudorf) and Ozeanstraße (Guntramsdorf) along the B17. In view of traffic volumes of up to 24,000 vehicles a day, this separation of traffic flows significantly increases safety.</p

Connection to Neu-Guntramsdorf

more information

To develop the residential area, a combined footpath and cycle path was built on the south side of Ozeanstraße - from the Industriestraße junction to the Badner Bahn (WLB) railway tracks.

Section B17 South

more information

Another section was created from the Neu-Guntramsdorf station between Mödlinger Straße and Klingerstraße. Specifically, the gap between Kammeringstraße (near Lidl) and Gumpoldskirchnerstraße was closed.</p

Public participation and planning

The development of cycling infrastructure is based on close collaboration between the public, the local authority and politicians. During regular site visits, potential routes are evaluated jointly. This form of participation allows wishes and suggestions to be incorporated directly into the planning process. Once new sections have been completed, joint rides are organised to officially hand over the projects for use.
